From Another Perspective

Seeing something from another perspective can really open your mind to some new and wonderful ideas:

My other creative outlet besides sculpture and jewelry is landscaping. I find landscaping an exciting creative outlet to experiment and problem solve in -- what plants work together, how does someone walk through the space, how should this bed meet the grass, how do I make this easy to mow around, how should i fill this spot where the grass doesn't grow, how do I make this an appeasing sight for the eyes? Bringing together the different worlds of fine art (color, line, shape, texture, form, etc.), how people use space, insects/animals, and plants to create your creative vision is very rewarding. 

I was recently woking on a long bed that parallels the driveway and divides the front yard in half. I was having trouble getting one section to grow and realized that they were being trampled to death. 

The dog kept running through because the plants were smaller and easier to get past: 

Its really not very cool if there is a huge line of plants 

blocking your path to where the sticks are being thrown!! 

Her 'path' was at an interesting point so I cleared out the plants and made a sloping rock pathway. The next few days proceeded to wash mud over my path so I went back in and re-established it with stone steps that slanted in the opposite direction of the grade so that it wouldn't be washed out again:
