Italy: Chapter 8: Arrivederci!

The next morning we went back to Burrano to get our tools!

And then headed to the train station. We passed the local fish market on the way:

So cute - a little girl playing the piano in the station...

And on to Milano for a quick stop on the roof of the Milano Duomo:

We walked through the Galleria Vittorio and found a little place to eat nearby and then headed back to our hotel in the airport.

 Arrivederci Italia!

Italy: Chapter 7: Lola la cane

The next day we went back to find Vittorio Constantini's studio. On our search we found a little dog and stopped to take pictures of him.
Her owner came out of his shop to talk to us. He told us how his dog, Lola was beloved by the whole neighborhood and went to visit different locals every day. She was even loved by the local glass artist and the shop owner pointed out a glass replica of the dog!

We knew we must be close! We finally found his studio but he was out for lunch.

So we stopped for our own lunch around the corner. A little sangria with amazing gnocchi, clams, and mussels.

After lunch we went back and finally met Vittorio! His wife, who speaks English well was home sick but four torch-workers from the states came in a little later. One of them spoke fluent Italian and translated as Vittorio gave us a private demo.

He brought out boxes and boxes of work that he was making for a huge show of a whole ecosystem.

The other torch-workers showed us the tools they bought from Roberto DonĂ . We couldn't leave without a small piece of his work. I bought a bee and David bought a little blue bird. We took the ferry back to Burrano to get some Roberto DonĂ  tools.

But didn't have enough cash! So we went back to Venizia to find an place to exchange.
